The existence of a market is needed by the community because it not only accommodates economic life, but also socio-cultural life. Traditional markets are markets that are still in demand by the community, especially the lower middle class because the quality of trade goods is quite good at affordable prices and they still apply a bargaining system. In addition, social interaction between users in traditional markets is high and includes a variety of socio-cultural life. However, along with the growth of the city, traditional markets are starting to be replaced by modern markets. Modern markets are considered cleaner and more organized than traditional markets. The decline in the quality of traditional markets due to lack of good management and the inability to meet the ever-increasing user needs also causes traditional markets to be unable to compete with modern markets. In addition to all the problems that exist, traditional markets still need to be maintained because apart from accommodating economic activities, they also accommodate all the social and cultural life of the community. Social interaction in traditional markets is quite high compared to modern markets. Each traditional market has a different character and is stronger than the modern market. Therefore, the need for solutions that can answer how traditional markets can survive in urban development in addition to the existing problems. This solution can be in the form of an architectural response, namely the rebuilding of traditional markets to increase the representation of traditional markets and also as public facilities that can accommodate all economic, social and cultural activities for the community. text
