Description
Summary:The clean water crisis is starting to be felt in some cities in Indonesia. This is caused by many reasons, there is a possibility that the stream is broken leading to a lack of water, but also because the access of the river has been polluted due to industrial activities and servants making the river water unconsumable. Decreasing the quality and quantity of clean water cannot be separated from human activities, while humans themselves enter the terrestrial ecosystem, contributing to the sustainability of the ecosystem. If human damages the ecosystem, then human harms themself because they are a part of the ecosystem. And vice versa, when people try to improve the environment, people themselves will receive good effects. From this perspective, it is necessary to apply water management technology that the surrounding community can self-manage under the supervision of competent authorities. For example, access to river water in Cirebon Regency, as reported by the Head of Environmental Impact Control and Restoration of the Cirebon Regency Department of Environment (DLH), falls within the category of class 4 water quality standards such as: stated in Kepmen-LH No. 51 in 2004, when the quality of drinking water falls within the class 1 water quality standards. Thus, by providing education-based means of clean water management, in addition to being able to educate the public about the importance of conserving water, it can also help governments in their efforts to manage clean water. In this case, it is necessary to do a case study to screen the situation so that the design can be more focused. Therefore, the area around the ITB Arjawinangun campus, Cirebon has been selected for a high frequency of community activities and ITB Cirebon can act as a controller and advisor to this community water management system for facile activity. In addition, water treatment technology, specifically ultrafiltration reverse osmosis, is also invested and developed at ITB. As it should be, this technology can be used to help solve problems that exist in the community. Around ITB Cirebon, there are many Islamic boarding schools, which can be a potential because of the number of hundreds of students who have a huge need for water. This participation will also benefit the contemplators themselves, as they will be able to meet their own sanitation and drinking water needs independently and may also have an impact on the surrounding area. Here, the design did not start from scratch but redesigned the area of the Islamic boarding school by incorporating a social laboratory of clean water management into it by paying attention to the resident's behavior and the working system of water management technology. Hopefully with this design, an Islamic boarding school as a kind of social water laboratory can meet its clean water needs, and also meet the need for clean water in the area around boarding scool and can help implement the Department of Public Works and Social Housing (PUPR) RI to accommodate community water needs.
