The child development must be monitored so that if there is a disturbance, the child immediately gets the right treatment. Children who need special attention and treatment in their growth process are called Children with Special Needs (CWSN). One of the limitations categorized under CWSN is mental-intellectual retardation or what is commonly called intellectual disabilities. Recently there has been a increasing trend of children with intellectual disabilities every year in Indonesia even in the world. This project is a Child Development Center, which is a special therapy center for children with intellectual disabilities from the age range of 0-18 years. The typology of this project is a therapy center that facilitates two functions, namely health and education. As a primary function, health, provides a range of consultations and diagnoses to therapy for each level of intellectual disabilities. As a secondary function, education, provides learning programs for both children with intellectual disabilities and the community, in the form of academic and vocational learning. The project, which occupies 11,771 m2 of land, is located in Cipayung District, East Jakarta City, DKI Jakarta, because Cipayung District is the district with the most intellectually disabled people in DKI Jakarta. The design issues for this project are taken from the characteristics and needs of children with intellectual disabilities, such as stimulation, comfort and safety, as well as an environment that builds independence. From this issue, three main concepts were obtained in this project, namely sensitive, restorative, and creative. The spatial configuration is made by taking into account the sensory zoning which is separated into three, namely low stimulus, high stimulus, and transition. In addition, a large outdoor space is provided for children to play and explore nature. The shape of the mass is made symmetrical on the front to give a home-like impression that makes the child feel comfortable. Then on the middle and back masses are made with asymmetrical configurations to create a mystery effect that stimulates children's curiosity. This project consists of four building masses with the largest mass being two stories high and connected by ramps and stairs. text |
