Summary: | Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease that affect many people in the world. Indonesia is one of the countries with the highest diabetes rates in the world. Even though it is claimed as an incurable disease, people with diabetes can still live normally as long as they live a healthy lifestyle. This final project models the dynamics of body weight by regulating the calorie intake and paying attention to the balance of macronutrients. The weight change model is constructed using the concept of the energy balace equatin between the energy intake and energy expenditure. This mathematical model is a one-dimensional differential equation by considering the main physical parameters of the body. Modification of the dynamics model was also carried out by dividing the body weight components from glycogen, protein, and fat as well as other body components. In addition to calorie intake, diabetics also need to pay attention to the dynamics of glycogen in the body. Therefore, it is necessary to vary the composition of the right nutrients in an effort to maintain the glycogen dynamics. Through this study it was also shown that variations in the percentage of macronutrients and the amount of calories taken in play an important role in maintaining body weight and the dynamics of changes in the mass of each component in the body. |
