Summary: | The education sector is one of the main sectors that needs to be improved in an effort to carry out human development in Indonesia. This project is a community learning center project, which is a non-formal education facility that provides community learning facilities through an equalization program as well as training facilities for skills, employability and entrepreneurship based on the potential of the local community. The main users of this project are targeted at young generation who have dropped out of school in Padalarang and West Bandung Regency in general. This project occupies a land area of 10,736 m2 on Jl. Kertajaya, Padalarang which are near settlements and are included in the Local Activity Center area.
The design issues of this project include implementing a creative and educative environment, creating an environment that is responsive to site and context, and designing spaces that support user productivity. In responding to these design issues, three concepts were used, namely Creative Environment, Community Based Development, and Connectivity. The organization of space in this project is based on the types of activities accommodated and the need for minimum noise so that users can carry out their activities comfortably and effectively. The presence of a outdoor area in the center of the building as a main area for outdoor activities and user to interact and exchange knowledge that is connected to the outside context through the pilotis strategy of the building.
This project consists of two building masses that have two to three floors and are divided into a main function buildings which accommodate educational, economic, and exhibition activities and a supporting function buildings which accommodate meeting, rest, and service activities. The building uses materials that are connected to the context around the site and materials that are produce in Padalarang and become local potential as the identity of the building. The building structure used is a grid structure of concrete columns with a light steel roof frame for ease of construction and an affordable alternative.
