Description
Summary:Plastic waste is an important problem that has an impact on the environment in all countries, including Indonesia. This project is a plastic-specific Recycling Center project, a facility that accommodates community activities with a focus on education and exploration of the importance of processing plastic into new items that are no longer called waste. This project houses 2 main facilities, namely a plastic processing factory and a plastic gallery. A Plastic processing factory is used as an educational tool for visitors by showing the workflow of processing plastics into new items, while a plastic gallery acts as the main object of plastic architectural exploration. The project, which occupies an area of 11,253 m2, is located in Gedebage District as one of the areas with the most plastic waste problems in Bandung City. The design issue of this project is related to the function of plastic, namely plastic as a building material, interactive educational facilities for the community, and catalysts for the community's economic growth rate. The main concept applied is Industrial Plastic Architecture. The space configuration in this project is made as effective and efficient as possible by establishing 4 space zonings clearly and integrated. The arrangement of the grid of each space is neatly made following the workflow of the machine. Exposing all building materials makes the expression of the building more innovative and interesting. The project consists of 6 masses of separate buildings. The four building masses represent 4 main space zonings, namely education, exploration, collaboration, and recreation. Building materials are dominated by concrete and plastic materials, while its structures use wide-span structures and saw-tooth roof as answers to the main concept of design.
