Description
Summary:Green synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles is one of the most widely conducted research nowadays due to its advantages, which are environmentally friendly and simple. Green betel and red betel were chosen because of their abundance of phytochemicals which are potential to be bioreductors and capping agents and their abundant availability in Indonesia. In this study, experiments were carried out with the aim of studying the role of green betel and red betel in green synthesis and the characteristics of the zinc oxide nanoparticles they produced. This research method included a literature review followed by experiments using green synthesis method. The characterization carried out including UV-Vis Spectroscopy, Photoluminescence Spectroscopy, Dynamic Light Scattering, X-Ray Diffraction, Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, and antibacterial tests. The results showed that both of red betel and green betel can be used as bioreductors and capping agents. The increasing of extract concentrations showed escalation in particle size homogenity which indicated that both green betel and red betel extracts succeeded to be the capping agents in this experiments. ZnO semicrystallines were obtained and exhibit hexagonal crystal system.
