The conventional approach of landfilling waste at final disposal sites, without due consideration, poses serious threats to the aforementioned aspects. However, the emergence of circular economy principles has begun to challenge the prevailing notion that waste management culminates at the final disposal stage. In this context, the Upcycling Hub project actively supports circular economy principles by fostering individual awareness regarding waste management. Serving as an extension of Bank Sampah Bersinar program in the Bandung Regency, this project primarily focuses on the transformation of plastic and fabric waste into furniture, household items, and textile crafts. Additionally, the project serves a secondary function as an educational facility, as well as a commercial platform for marketing products derived from the upcycling process. Moreover, the Upcycling Hub facilitates collaboration among various users, including local communities, project personnel, environmental advocacy groups, and product designers. Spanning an area of 5,464 square meters, with a total land area of 7,900 square meters, the project site is located in the Baleendah District of the Bandung Regency, surrounded by residential, commercial, and industrial zones. The design challenge of this project lies in integrating industrial, educational, and commercial structures while emphasizing energy efficiency to minimize adverse environmental impacts. Moreover, it aims to ensure the efficiency and comfort of industrial buildings, address flood-related concerns, and compensate for the limited green space in the vicinity. The strategic placement of masses and outdoor spaces significantly influences user circulation and waste production flows. Furthermore, the project incorporates passive cooling techniques, natural lighting, rooftop solar panels, and rainwater harvesting systems to address energy-saving concerns. Regarding its educational facilities, the project supports the passive and active transfer of knowledge, fostering a participatory learning environment. text
