Summary: | Violence cases are a crucial problem and continue to increase in Indonesia, especially cases of violence against women. National Commision on Violence Against Woman (Komnas Perempuan) 2020 annual records reveal that there were at least 299.911 cases of violence against women, with the most types of violence being domestic violence. The high number of cases of domestic violence, if not responded to by the government's attitude in dealing with victims, of course, will have the potential to exacerbate the victim's trauma which, if left unchecked, will lead to the potential for experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to depression.
The increase that occurs is not only due to the increasing number of cases that occur. It can also mean that more and more victims need assistance to be protected by the government. Ironically, the number of provided shelters is limited. Also, the function and quality are not maximized. In fact, the environment is the most crucial factor in the human healing process. Therefore, there is a need to increase shelter facilities integrated with rehabilitation services to support the realization of an optimal rehabilitation process.
Therapeutic architecture is one of the essential concept for creating an environment that can support the optimization of the rehabilitation process. By maximizing quality and function in terms of security and empowerment, coupled with an environment that supports a therapeutic atmosphere, it is hoped that this project will become a temporary home that can create a sense of security and comfort for its residents, become a home for them to transform and recover from trauma so that they are ready to transform and back into society.
