Both purposes have been applied in Bandung through their city park design. However, the current city park facilities only focus on the functional aspects, which demand compentence for their users and playground for children whose use is very limited. These two types of facilities only meet the needs of certain groups, so there are other components of society, for example, teenagers who are not interested and cannot use the facilities available. The author tries to conduct research related to active recreational activities in urban parks in the city of Bandung and how interactions are created between facilities and visitors. This study applied a mixed method between qualitative approach through observation and interviews and quantitative approach through questionnaire. The process of collecting and processing data is continued by designing active recreation facilities for teenagers who lack interest in physical activities by combining functional and play aspects. The design of the facility focuses on freestyle calisthenics which is packaged with the concept of obstacle course to attract teenagers’ interest in physical activity in the city park. text |

City parks are open land with social and aesthetic functions to serve one of their
purposes as active (require people to physically interact with the facilities) and
passive (require no direct interaction between the people and facilities) recreation.
Both purposes have been applied in Bandung through their city park design.
However, the current city park facilities only focus on the functional aspects, which
demand compentence for their users and playground for children whose use is very
limited. These two types of facilities only meet the needs of certain groups, so there
are other components of society, for example, teenagers who are not interested and
cannot use the facilities available.
The author tries to conduct research related to active recreational activities in urban
parks in the city of Bandung and how interactions are created between facilities and
visitors. This study applied a mixed method between qualitative approach through
observation and interviews and quantitative approach through questionnaire. The
process of collecting and processing data is continued by designing active
recreation facilities for teenagers who lack interest in physical activities by
combining functional and play aspects. The design of the facility focuses on
freestyle calisthenics which is packaged with the concept of obstacle course to
attract teenagers’ interest in physical activity in the city park.
