This process involves drilling a wellbore through rock formations to reach the desired oil or gas reservoir. However, in practice, various technical issues can arise that affect drilling efficiency and success. One common problem encountered is differential sticking. Differential sticking refers to a situation where the drill string becomes stuck against the wellbore wall due to a significant pressure difference between the drilling fluid in the wellbore and the fluid in the formation. Field XX has the potential for differential sticking to occur. This potential issue needs to be avoided as it can adversely affect drilling operations. Additionally, the field often experiences borehole collapse problems. This problem needs to be evaluated as it is a recurring issue that requires special attention. This study focuses on analyzing the potential for differential sticking and evaluating the borehole collapse problem in one of the wells in Field XX, namely well-X5. The methods employed include analyzing the potential for differential sticking by identifying the difference between the hydrostatic pressure of the drilling fluid and the pore pressure at a specific depth, evaluating the borehole collapse problem, conducting an analysis of the lithology of the formation where the collapse occurs, and considering the selection of mud density. This study also provides recommendations to avoid the potential for differential sticking and considerations for the borehole collapse problem, such as reducing pressure differences by using drilling mud with a density below the critical density, reducing contact areas by reducing the solid content in the drilling mud, and making improvements in cuttings removal. text
