Field XX faces problems such as kick, lost circulation, tight spots, washouts, and differential sticking which are exacerbated by the heterogeneity and complexity of the formations. The research methodology follows the flow path of a directional well, by designing wells based on surface coordinate data, subsurface targets, and geological information. High dogleg severity (DLS) can reduce wellbore quality and cause problems such as tight holes and differential sticking. In addition, high DLS also causes higher stresses and strains in the casing or liner and results in a decrease in yield strength and failure of the casing. Therefore, it is very important to optimize the design and operation of directional drilling, especially the drilling path. This study summarizes methods for evaluating drilling operations and wellbore conditions in Field XX. The results are useful for identifying critical conditions caused by drilling and formation problems, as well as establishing maximum load limits on design and subsequent operations. It is recommended to carry out a buckling analysis, full-scale testing, and several design and operating scenarios prior to drilling. text |
