The objectives of this research were to determine the antioxidant activity of white, pink, and orange rose petals extracts using the DPPH and CUPRAC methods, total phenolic content (TPC) and total flavonoid content (TFC), the correlation between TPC and TFC with antioxidant activity, the correlation between the two methods, and the identification and determination of flavonoid compound in selected extract. Antioxidant activity using the DPPH and CUPRAC methods, TPC, and TFC were determined using UV-visible spectrophotometry. Identification and determination of flavonoid compound in selected extract were conducted by high performance liquid chromatography. Antioxidant activity of white, pink, and orange rose petal extracts using the DPPH method had a value in the range from 9.896 to 135.074 mg AEAC/g, while the CUPRAC method from 11.152 to 108.383 mg AEAC/g. Pink rose ethyl acetate extract had the highest TPC (30.434 ± 6.576 g GAE/100 g). Orange rose ethyl acetate extract had the highest TFC (15.823 ± 1.374 g QE/100 g). The TPC and TFC in the extracts had a strong to very strong correlation with their antioxidant activity using the DPPH and CUPRAC methods. The antioxidant activity of the extracts from the two methods gave linear results with a strong to very strong correlation. The orange rose ethyl acetate extract contained rutin 0.823% and kaempferol 2.292%. Flower petals of pink rose and orange rose had potential to be developed as antioxidant agent for cosmetic preparations in the future. text
