Summary:Oyster Mushroom is a food commodity that is quite popular nowadays because of its nutritional content and more friendly price. Oyster mushroom business actors compete with each other to get the largest market share. The oyster mushroom production process must be carried out properly because this commodity is sensitive to the environment. There are many cases of crop failure or inconsistent yields from this industry. Hence this raises the need to reduce variability. Implementation of control and monitoring systems can be used to meet these needs. This research objective is to design and implement a temperature control system of oven machine and monitoring system for the mushroom baglog sterilization process. The research was focused on the oven machine because the sterilization process is the most important part that determines the quality of the mushroom baglog. This research produces a control system that is able to maintain a more stable heating temperature than the previous conditions. The control system is built using the PID control method with several control devices such as servo motors, ball valve, etc. In addition, a monitoring system is also built with an internet connection, enabling stakeholders to monitor production activities, especially the sterilization process. Data that are displayed and stored by the system are oven temperature, setup time, sterilization time, and the position of the servo motor which control the intensity of hot steam. The application of this control and monitoring system provides benefits to the company in various aspects. Savings in labor and energy used, and also stability of the heating temperature are the real impacts after the implementation of this control system.
