DEVELOPMENT OF A PROTOTYPE APPLICATION FOR MONITORING ADHERENCE IN THE TREATMENT OF PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS PATIENTS

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious bacterial disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Indonesia ranked second with the highest number of TB cases in the world after India. In Indonesia, the estimated mortality rate from TB was 144,000 people in 2021. Non-adherence to treatment remained a...

Indonesia ranked second with the highest number of TB cases in the world after India. In Indonesia, the estimated mortality rate from TB was 144,000 people in 2021. Non-adherence to treatment remained a problem in TB treatment, resulting in patients not recovering from their illness and potential complications and drug resistance. The use of information technology in this digital era has become an innovative approach to improve treatment adherence for TB patients. This final project aimed to create a prototype of a mobile phone-based application that functions as an alternative monitoring tool for treatment adherence for pulmonary TB patients called TBCare and to evaluate usability testing and user satisfaction (Single Ease Question and System Usability Scale) of the prototype. The research process started with planning, determining user flow, designing, wireframing and prototyping, usability testing, and user satisfaction testing. The design, wireframing, and prototyping were done using Figma, while usability testing and user satisfaction testing were conducted using Maze.co in two testing phases (T1 and T2). The parameters used in usability testing were success rate, misclick, and duration. In the usability testing results after improvements were made to the user interface (T2), a success rate of 89.4%, click errors of 8.5%, and duration of 29.7 seconds were obtained. User satisfaction testing was conducted using the SEQ method with a score of 6.8 and SUS with a score of 93.5. Overall, the TBCare application prototype was found to be easy to navigate and well-received by users. text
