Description
Summary:Tourism is a vital sector often utilized by governments to boost a country's economy, especially in developing nations abundant in natural and cultural resources like Indonesia. As the desire for travel continues to grow with changing times, it has become a significant economic driver. The rapid growth of the tourism industry has led to fierce competition among destinations. Each tourism destination must possess good competitiveness to support and enhance the economic capacity of the region. Central Aceh Regency is one of the regencies in Aceh Province, Indonesia, characterized by its beautiful highland landscapes and pleasant climate, making it a potential tourist destination. However, despite the numerous attractions it offers, Central Aceh Regency has not been able to compete with other tourist destinations in Indonesia due to its relatively low tourism competitiveness. This is primarily attributed to the underutilization of the region's potential and resources in supporting the tourism industry and enhancing the economic growth of the area. This study aims to identify the tourism competitiveness of Central Aceh Regency. The analysis methods employed in this research are descriptive quantitative analysis and tourism competitiveness assessment using the Competitiveness Monitor approach. The Competitiveness Monitor method encompasses eight indicators: Human Tourism Indicator (HTI), Price Competitiveness Indicator (PCI), Infrastructure Development Indicator (IDI), Environment Indicator (EI), Technology Advancement Indicator (TAI), Human Resources Indicator (HRI), Openness Indicator (OI), and Social Development Indicator (SDI). Each indicator incorporates data and measurements derived from the Travel and Tourism Competitive Index (TTCI) method. Based on these indicators, Central Aceh Regency obtained a score of 48.52 out of 100. This score indicates that tourism competitiveness in Central Aceh Regency is moderately competitive. However, these efforts are not sufficient to improve the competitiveness of tourism in Aceh Tengah Regency, which has been designated as a Strategic Tourism Area in the province of Aceh. Therefore, the government of Aceh Tengah Regency, therefore as a stakeholder, needs to develop strategies to enhance the competitiveness of tourism in Aceh Tengah Regency, especially in areas with low indicators.
