STRATEGY FOR PROVISION OF GREEN OPEN SPACE IN ACHIEVING A SUSTAINABLE CITY IN JAMBI CITY

Green open space is the main element that needs to be planned in a sustainable city. Green open space is an important element to balance the urban environmental ecosystem. Based on Law Number 11 of 2021 concerning Job Creation, it is stated that the provision of public green space is 20% of the area. However, fulfilling this figure is difficult due to limited budget financing and high land prices in Jambi City. The availability of existing green open space in the Jambi City area only reaches 0.81% of the Jambi City area. In addition, the distribution of existing green open space is also uneven and in an unkempt condition This is what prompted this research to be conducted with the aim of examining how the formulation of a strategy for providing public green open space in achieving a sustainable city in Jambi City. This research was conducted with a mix method approach. Data collection was carried out through literature studies from planning documents and literature, secondary surveys or institutional surveys and primary surveys or field observations. The results of the research on the formulation of the strategy for providing green open space in Jambi City resulted in 6 priority strategies for providing public green open space in Jambi City. The strategy carried out relates to increasing land acquisition for the provision of green open space for Jambi City through collaboration between the Jambi City government and the Central Government, the Jambi Provincial Government, the private sector and the community. In addition, it is also related to establishing green open space for the functions of railroad borders, river borders, lake borders and carrying out restoration and revitalization of areas that have been converted including restoring city parks and replanting vegetation by involving the active role of the community.
