Summary: | The monitoring device for mountain climbing activities is a system solution
formulated in this Final Project, which is needed to address various problems in
mountain climbing activities such as poor signal quality for communication and
lack of physical preparation from mountain climbers. Physical preparation here is
crucial because many accidents related to climbing activities occur, such as Acute
Mountain Sickness (AMS) or cases of getting lost from the designated trail.
Therefore, to enhance the experience and safety of mountain climbing activities, we
have developed a solution in the form of an Internet of Things (IoT) based wearable
device with the assistance of sensors to detect SpO2 levels and heart rate, as well
as a Global Positioning System (GPS) module that enables mountain climbers to be
tracked in real-time and records their health conditions. The results and
confirmations will be communicated to the system manager. In this paper, we will
specifically focus on the development of the device using the V-Model
development method, with the main outcome being a "Proof of Concept" in the
form of an initial concept design of the wearable device to be used by mountain
climbers, as well as a receiver device and a web application supported by the use of
Machine Learning for managing mountain climber data by the system manager. |
