Summary: | The phenomenon of ageing population, also known as population ageing, is occurring worldwide. Statistics indicate that by 2050, the elderly population will account for one in six people in the world. On one hand, this changing population structure is considered an indicator of a country's development success (Hanum et al., 2018). On the other hand, this trend poses challenges that need to be addressed by the government and society. Facilities are also required to enhance happiness and well-being, thus avoiding feelings of loneliness among individuals.
This project is a multigenerational housing located in the Karang Tengah, Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, covering an area of 18,855.34 square meters. The design issues for this project are derived from various aspects that influence an individual's happiness and well-being, which can trigger feelings of loneliness in intergenerational interactions. These aspects include the lack of social interaction between generations, the lack of privacy and territory within families, and a lack of awareness about mental health. The project revolves around three main concepts: enhancing social interaction between generations, creating an environment that preserves privacy and territory, and providing facilities to improve mental well-being.
The project consists of three blocks, each with two towers and four floors. Each block has separate zoning for the elderly and families, ensuring that the privacy and territory of each generation are maintained while still allowing them to interact and build a strong community within this multigenerational housing.
