Summary: | Background: Childhood is a golden age that becomes a seed to determine the future of the country.
This means that the quality of the younger generation must be taken into account since elementary
school age. Physical fitness with low physical activity can reduce motor speed and result in impaired
reaction speed and motor coordination, stunted growth, decreased intelligence, and decreased stamina.
In Indonesia, children of primary school age are still malnourished, especially in rural areas that are
not paid attention to by the government to ensure adequate nutrition. The purpose of this study was to
determine the characteristics of Physical Activity, Biomotor and Nutritional Status in Elementary
School students. Method: This study is an observational study with a quantitative descriptive research
design. The population is elementary school students in the city of Bandung using cluster random
sampling. The subjects of this study amounted to 122 samples consisting of 68 male students and 58
female students of Bandung elementary school. Results: Physical activity characteristics for men and
women are mostly in the category of moderate physical activity. For the four regions in the city of
Bandung, there is no difference with P-value (0.719) for men while for women P-Value (0.728). Bimotor
results of men and women through the speed component using a 30 meter speed test with a P-Value
value (0.000*), an agility component using an ilionys agility test with a P-Value value (0.000*), a
power component using a vertical jump with a P-Value value (0.000*), a standing stork test component
with a P-Value value (0.000 *). The nutritional status characteristics of students based on the category
of good nutrition (normal) were 47 men (69.1%) and 51 women (94.4%). Conclusion: The results of
research on physical fitness in elementary school students have important implications for public
health. The findings show that physical activity in elementary school students is caused by a program
from the school that only engages students in learning once a week, resulting in a lack of physical
activity for students. The biomotor component of students falls into the poor category for agility while
the explosive power (power) is in the medium category, as well as other components fall into the very
good category such as speed and balance. The body mass index (BMI) of female students is better than
that of male students. As for the diet of Bandung students / students who are usually consumed, namely
rice and bread for staple foods, for vegetables, namely carrots and kale, for animal side dishes, chicken
meat and chicken eggs, for citrus fruits and mangoes.
