Description
Summary:The utilization of fly ash and silica fume materials is one of ongoing research in Civil Engineering. Both of the materials can be activated into geopolymer concrete. In this research, the mix design and mechanical properties will be determined by using geopolymer paste. In this research process, there will be fresh properties testing including workability and setting time of geopolymer paste. In addition, there will be also mechanical properties testing that include compressive strength test on geopolmyer paste in the form of 5x5x5 cm cubes. There will be also print properties analysis to determine which geopolymer paste mixture has the best characteristics to be used in the 3D printing process. The experimental study proved that addition of silica fume in fly ash based geopolymer will reduce the workability of geopolymer paste. Moreover, the addition of silica fume in geopolymer paste cause the loss of compressive strength in geopolymer paste. Furthermore, the loss of compressive strength is caused by the ratio of SiO2/Al2O3 that are outside the optimum level. Also, the addition of silica fume increases the extrudability aspect but also reduces the buildability of the geopolymer paste mixture.
