With developments in technology and digitization, it is possible to optimize the production process in order to manufacture items efficiently and of high quality for consumer satisfaction. As a result, we require a production performance measurement system. Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is a method for measuring and improving manufacturing process efficiency. The purpose of this research is to determine the initial OEE value on an automatic packing machine using a Track and Trace 2D Barcode system. Quantitative research approaches are utilized to collect OEE values, examine factors that influence OEE values, develop improvement strategies, and evaluate solutions at the machine productivity level. The study's findings show that the OEE value on an automatic packaging machine equipped with a Track and Trace 2D Barcode system is 30.49%. This figure is still significantly below than the company's standard of 85%. The Availability (AV) and Rate of Quality (RQ) values are relatively high, but the Performance Rate (PE) remains low, resulting in a poor OEE number. According to the Six Big Losses analysis, the biggest loss that causes a low OEE value is reduced speed, which occurs when the machine is operated at a speed that does not match the design (ideal) speed of the machine (usually the actual speed is lower than the ideal speed), which can be caused by a small batch size. The problem resolution step conducted after discovering and evaluating the root of the problem using the fish bone diagram method is to increase the number of batches for the packing process. According to the average OEE calculation after issue solving, the figure is 67.67%. The OEE value obtained increased by 37.18% when compared to the previous OEE value. text |
