Abdul Rahman Saleh and Nurtanio Street are two state-regulated streets in Bandung with considerably high volume of passing vehicles due to both being the main points of access in and out of downtown in addition to the presence of an active railway crossing. The said crossing has a passing frequency ranging from once every 5 to 30 minutes. Hence a long line of traffic often occurs, particularly in the morning and evening rush hours. This study analysed the traffic performance of state-regulated Abdul Rahman Saleh – Nurtanio Street which intersects with level railway crossing by employing MKJII 1997 method and microsimulation with PTV VISSIM in the current year and for its 20-years projection. Subsequently, an appropriate recommendation was drafted to address the issues in question by comparing the performance before and after corrective actions are taken. The main required data was collected from direct observation employing field surveys, whereas the secondary data was from relevant supporting literature. The formed microsimulation model was based on the data collected from the field observation which had been processed and set according to the calibration parameters in relevant previous studies. The model validation was calculated using GEH statistical method and visual comparison. Analysis results indicated that the site in question will not be able to withstand the capacity in the coming projected years. Hence, corrective actions which encompasses providing additional lanes and a flyover to fulfil the required capacity in the projected years. The corrective recommendation in the form of flyover construction was subsequently composed in the form of basic design which includes geometric planning and estimated cost. text |

Bandung, a metropolitan city in West Java, is the centre of travel and business
destination in the greater and municipality area of Bandung. Abdul Rahman Saleh
and Nurtanio Street are two state-regulated streets in Bandung with considerably
high volume of passing vehicles due to both being the main points of access in and
out of downtown in addition to the presence of an active railway crossing. The said
crossing has a passing frequency ranging from once every 5 to 30 minutes. Hence
a long line of traffic often occurs, particularly in the morning and evening rush
hours.
This study analysed the traffic performance of state-regulated Abdul Rahman Saleh
– Nurtanio Street which intersects with level railway crossing by employing MKJII
1997 method and microsimulation with PTV VISSIM in the current year and for its
20-years projection. Subsequently, an appropriate recommendation was drafted to
address the issues in question by comparing the performance before and after
corrective actions are taken. The main required data was collected from direct
observation employing field surveys, whereas the secondary data was from relevant
supporting literature.
The formed microsimulation model was based on the data collected from the field
observation which had been processed and set according to the calibration
parameters in relevant previous studies. The model validation was calculated using
GEH statistical method and visual comparison. Analysis results indicated that the site in question will not be able to withstand the capacity in the coming projected
years. Hence, corrective actions which encompasses providing additional lanes and
a flyover to fulfil the required capacity in the projected years. The corrective
recommendation in the form of flyover construction was subsequently composed in
the form of basic design which includes geometric planning and estimated cost. |
