DEVELOPMENT OF AN APPLICATION FOR CREATING OPTIMAL AND COST-EFFECTIVE CATTLE FEED USING THE INTERIOR POINT ALGORITHM

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/74165 The Ministry of Agriculture launched a self-sufficiency program for beef production in 2016. Self-sufficiency is achieved when the availability of beef reaches 90% of the demand, but the demand for beef increases every year. Consequently, the government conducted large-scale imports of beef, which caused the local beef prices to become less competitive and resulted in losses for local farmers. Additionally, the increasing cost of animal feed is another reason why local beef is more expensive compared to imported beef. Therefore, it is necessary to formulate a feed composition that meets the nutritional needs of livestock while also being cost-effective to reduce the cost of maintaining cattle. The formulation of this feed composition can be done using an interior point algorithm, which is known as one of the optimization algorithms that has a short execution time and provides the most optimal results. In its implementation, the feed formulation can be carried out through a website by simply inputting the nutritional requirements of the livestock and the available feed ingredients. The nutritional requirements of the livestock depend on various factors such as the type of husbandry, gender, and weight of the animals. Based on the testing of the feed formulation results, the obtained nutritional requirements values have been in accordance with the needs of the animals, although there may be slight inaccuracies due to rounding. Thus, it can be concluded that the interior point algorithm can be used to create a feed composition that meets the needs of the animals and is the most cost-effective. text
