APPLICATION OF IMAGE PROCESSING APPROACH FOR MEASURING THE GROWTH OF AZOLLA PINNATA (AZOLLA PINNATA) WITH THE ADDITION OF SYNTHETIC CHEMICAL AND ORGANIC FERTILIZERS

Ferns are one of the groups of plants classified as cormophytes, in which it can be clearly distinguished into three main parts: roots (radix), stems (caulis), and leaves (folium). One of the aquatic plants belonging to ferns is Azolla pinnata. This plant has a high level of nitrogen and protein, ma...

One of the aquatic plants belonging to ferns is Azolla pinnata. This plant has a high level of nitrogen and protein, making it suitable as animal feed or processed into other products. Additionally, this plant has a relatively high economic value. This is because of the fact that in addition to being animal feed, Azolla can also be used as plant fertilizer or ornamental plants. However, data collection is done using image processing to obtain raw data from grown Azolla. This is because collecting Azolla data by weighing each observation can risk wilting the Azolla plant. Additionally, weighing Azolla requires it to be dried because Azolla is an aquatic plant. Therefore, besides obtaining accurate weight, image processing is used as a safe alternative to obtain information without the risk of data errors due to excessive drying or wilting of the Azolla plant. This study was conducted to determine the effect of three different fertilizers on Azolla to determine the real impact of fertilizer and harvest weight using image processing. The fertilizers used in this study are urea, vermicompost, and kasgot fertilizer, which are estimated to have suitable nutrients for Azolla due to their high nitrogen content to support Azolla sp growth. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the growth graph from image processing and the original weight are significantly different, with the highest growth rate in vermicompost and the lowest in urea. In addition, the growth rate obtained in image processing has a high value in vermicompost, followed by kasgot and the lowest in urea." text
