The design and manufacture was carried out to obtain a clamp that can connect the tensile testing machine to the rabbit femur-ACL-tibia-complex (FATC) specimen. As a form of validation of the design and manufacturing, the researchers conducted tests using a procedure designed so that the FATC specimen testing produced relatively correct data if validated against several literatures. The design and manufacturing process has produced a clamp that is capable of testing FATC specimens with the 5985 Instron Tensile Testing Machine. The test results are also relatively similar to several literatures for parameters of failure load, stiffness, failure mode, and shape of the curve. This is an indication that the testing tools and procedures are appropriate for testing rabbit FATC specimens which will be carried out in subsequent studies. text |

Biomechanical validation is frequently used in research involving the
mechanical properties of tissues in animals and humans. One of the studies that
needed this validation was a study that compared reconstructive and repair surgery
methods on the anterior cruciate ligament in rabbits. Test equipment and testing
methods for the strength and stiffness of the operation results need to be developed in
order to obtain biomechanical comparison validation.
The method used in this study is based on design, manufacture and testing. The
design and manufacture was carried out to obtain a clamp that can connect the
tensile testing machine to the rabbit femur-ACL-tibia-complex (FATC) specimen. As
a form of validation of the design and manufacturing, the researchers conducted tests
using a procedure designed so that the FATC specimen testing produced relatively
correct data if validated against several literatures.
The design and manufacturing process has produced a clamp that is capable of
testing FATC specimens with the 5985 Instron Tensile Testing Machine. The test
results are also relatively similar to several literatures for parameters of failure load,
stiffness, failure mode, and shape of the curve. This is an indication that the testing
tools and procedures are appropriate for testing rabbit FATC specimens which will
be carried out in subsequent studies. |
