It is found that when MAPbBr3 was combined with PMMA, PL peak position and edge absorption spectra exhibit a redshift phenomenon. Comprehensive characterizations using x-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) suggested that this phenomenon possibly corresponded to the dielectric screening and strain of perovskite crystal induced by the presence of PMMA. A potential application of the prepared film as a green down-converter is also demonstrated. Applying the MAPbBr3/PMMA film on a UV LED has successfully generated green color at CIE color coordinate (0.21, 0.71), close to the green color standards, i.e., NTSC 1953 and Adobe RGB 98. This result suggests that MAPbBr3 perovskite nanoplatelets/PMMA composite films have great potential for light-emitting device applications. MAPbBr3 perovskite nanoparticles were used as fluorescent material in a sandwich design thin film luminescent solar concentrator (SD-TLSC). To fabricate transparent SD-TLSC, blue and green-emitting MAPbBr3 perovskite nanoparticles were composed with PMMA to deposited on the top and bottom of the glass substrate through doctor blade techniques. The SD-TLSCs showed high optical efficiency of 5.75 % while keeping a high average visible transmission (AVT) of 85.7%. The CIE 1931 color coordinate (0.3338, 0.35647) of the SD-TLSC is closely related to the CIE 1931 color coordinates of incident AM 1.5G (0.32, 0.33) as a point of reference. The SD-TLSC-based MAPbBr3 in high efficiency and high transparency opens the path for real applications of LSCs in the solar windows for building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) applications. text |

Organometal halide perovskites have been gaining tremendous attention for their
potential application as optoelectronic devices, owing to their excellent optical and
electronic properties. This dissertation research reports on the fabrication of
methylamonium lead bromide/ polymethil metha acrilate (MAPbBr3/ PMMA)
composite film with bright green emission via a simple drop-casting method. It is
found that when MAPbBr3 was combined with PMMA, PL peak position and edge
absorption spectra exhibit a redshift phenomenon. Comprehensive
characterizations using x-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron
microscope (TEM) suggested that this phenomenon possibly corresponded to the
dielectric screening and strain of perovskite crystal induced by the presence of
PMMA. Understanding this redshift phenomenon could be beneficial for
developing high color purity optoelectronic devices. A potential application of the
prepared film as a green down-converter is also demonstrated. Applying the
MAPbBr3/PMMA film on a UV LED has successfully generated green color at CIE
color coordinate (0.21, 0.71), close to the green color standards, i.e., NTSC 1953
and Adobe RGB 98. This result suggests that MAPbBr3 perovskite
nanoplatelets/PMMA composite films have great potential for light-emitting device
applications.
Another application studied from perovskite/PMMA composites is in luminescent
solar concentrators (LSC). MAPbBr3 perovskite nanoparticles were used as
fluorescent material in a sandwich design thin film luminescent solar concentrator
(SD-TLSC). To fabricate transparent SD-TLSC, blue and green-emitting MAPbBr3
perovskite nanoparticles were composed with PMMA to deposited on the top and
bottom of the glass substrate through doctor blade techniques. The SD-TLSCs
showed high optical efficiency of 5.75 % while keeping a high average visible
transmission (AVT) of 85.7%. The CIE 1931 color coordinate (0.3338, 0.35647) of
the SD-TLSC is closely related to the CIE 1931 color coordinates of incident AM
1.5G (0.32, 0.33) as a point of reference. The SD-TLSC-based MAPbBr3 in high
efficiency and high transparency opens the path for real applications of LSCs in the
solar windows for building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) applications. |
