Description
Summary:Moraceae is a family plant that has the largest variety in Indonesia. The three major genus of this family are Arocarpus, Ficus, and Morus. In Indonesia, Artocarpus is used as food, household appliances, building constructions, and traditional medicines. The reference shows that Artocarpus contains as flavonoid, stilbene, and 2-arylbenzofuran compounds. Some of compounds have biological activity such as antiinflamantory, antitumor, anti cancer, and antibacterial. Artocarpus elasticus is one of species from this genus which is called as 'teureup' or 'bendo'. In this research, the isolated of secondary metabolites of the root of Artocarpus elasticus has been conducted. The root powder was first extracted with methanol. Then, the methanol extract was separated and purified by using of various chromatography techniques to obtain two derivatives of prenylated flavones. Both compound have been identified as artocarpin and cycloartocarpin. The determination of both structure were based on the spectroscopic data including UV, IR and 1H-NMR.
