Description
Summary:Geographically, Ibul Field is situated about 120 km from Palembang to the west. This Field is included in S&CS Block which is operated by PT Medco E& P Indonesia. Geologically, Ibul Field is located in the southern part of Palembang High, whrere is in the sothern part of South Sumara Basin. The area is bordered by Limau Graben in the West, South, and East. The main reservoir in this field is a sandstone of Talang Akar Formation. Talang Akar Formation is classified into ten lithofacies, which is: sandstone, silt, conglomerate, clayey sand, sandy clay, bioturbated shale, bioturbated sand, quartz sand, mudstone, dan coal seam. Talang Akar Formation is also classified into seven associated facies. There are marine shales, tidal sand flat sand, mix tidal mud-sand flat, mudstone of tidal mud flat, distributray channel sand, tidal sand ridges, and swampy siltstone. The whole Talang Akar Formation in Ibul Field is deposited in transition environment which is tidal dominated delta. Based on identification of it’s lithofacies and associated facies, The Talang Akar Formation is interpreted to have four depositional sequence. Each sequence has 1 period which is transgressive system track while bounded by Sequence Boundary at it’s top and base. At the 4th sequence, the sequence is bounded by maximum flooding surface at the top of Talang Akar Formation. The “G” sand as one of main reservoir in Ibul Field, was deposited in aTransgressive System Track-2 which is part of the 2 rd depositional sequence. The “G” sand is interpreted as a distributary channel sand and distributary mounth bar is developed in a particular area. The “G” sand is deposited in a tidal dominated delta depositional system.
