Summary: | Water is a basic need for people to have a decent life. Water resources are
renewable resources that will not run out. Unfortunately, the water resources used
are suboptimal, which causes various disasters. One of the factors contributing to
the scarcity of water resources is rampant development and population growth in
peri-urban areas, which cause water scarcity. The peri-urban area of Bandung
City, which has lowlands, often experiences flooding. In addition, water scarcity
due to declining groundwater levels has also begun to be felt by the community.
The unbalanced amount of water demand and supply has an impact on water
scarcity. The peri-urban area of Bandung City is planned to dominate residential
areas and other buildings that increase water demand, while the conservation of
groundwater and surface water itself has not received much attention. This study
was conducted by analyzing the impact of land use change and population growth
on water-carrying capacity. The study’s goal is to respond to government policies
by pursuing water conservation in the study area. Bandung Regency will continue
to grow, and the high intensity of built-up areas is inevitable. This study was
conducted by measuring the availability and demand of water from 2011 to 2020
and its projection until 2030. The findings of this study led to a very low water
carrying capacity status in the study area, namely a scarcity ratio of 3 (high). There
are also many discrepancies between provincial and municipal policies, as well as
the RPJPD and RTRW. So that several recommendations can be formulated for
spatial policies in Bandung Regency, such as policy synchronization, structuring
protected spaces, adding money poles for artificial water bodies, increasing
supervision, improving water infrastructure, and additional breakthroughs, such as
the use of porous asphalt materials to reduce flooding. Utilization of high rainfall
runoff water in built-up areas is very influential in reducing the high-water demand
gap in Bandung Regency. |
