Bamboo has great potential as a substitute for wood and provides
significant ecological benefits. Indonesia, including the island of Bali, is one of the
world's largest bamboo producers. Bamboo plays an integral role in Balinese
culture and daily life, serving as a construction material, handicraft resource, and
symbol of spirituality. Despite its immense potential, the utilization of bamboo is
still limited and not fully optimized for sustainable development. Lack of awareness,
knowledge, and investment in the bamboo sector pose challenges that need to be
addressed.
The Bangli District, located in the Bangli Regency of Bali, has the largest
bamboo forest area on the island and holds great potential for bamboo artisans.
However, the potential of bamboo in the Bangli District is often overlooked and
underutilized in sustainable development. Therefore, the Bali Bamboo Education
and Tourism Facility in the Bangli District is designed as a solution to connect
bamboo with Balinese culture, combining tradition with innovation, providing
training and collaborative programs, and serving as a platform for research and
collaboration. This approach has made a significant contribution in maximizing
the potential of bamboo and preserving its sustainability within the context of
Balinese culture in the Bangli District. |
