INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/74379 Organic sulfur compounds present in fuels such as diesel can cause environmental problems such as air pollution. The Indonesian government has issued a Ministerial Regulation requiring the sulfur content in diesel used in Indonesia not to exceed 10 ppm (Euro V and VI standards). Therefore it is needed petroleum processing to remove sulfur compounds through the hydrodesulfurization (HDS) process using a CoMo/?-Al2O3 catalyst. The purpose of this study was to determine the kinetic parameter of the HDS reaction from blending Straight Run Diesel 80% and Light Cycle Oil 20% using a batch reactor. The effect of kinetic parameters on the HDS process was studied by varying temperatures of 315°C, 330°C, 345°C, the amount of catalyst as much as 3 grams and 6 grams as well as the effect of adding water to the catalyst and the effect of the resulfidation catalyst. The result showed that the reaction rate would increase with increasing temperature. The kinetic parameter of 3 grams fresh catalyst has activation energy (Ea) of 44.089 kJ/mol and collosion factor (A) of 44.947/s. The presence of water reduces the activity of HDS catalyst, the addition of 10,000 ppm water at T = 330°C can reduce the activity of HDS catalyst up to 12.95%. The activation energy value increased to 48.47 kJ/mol and the frequency factor was 99.13/s. Resulfidation of the catalyst can increase the activity of the catalyst but cannot reach its initial activity. text |
