This study conducted to identify the relationship between objective and subjective parameters for Morino 4×4 Internal Combustion Engine Vehicle (ICEV) and Electric Vehicle (EV). Vehicle sound sampling was carried out under static conditions (operational conditions: engine running with and without air conditioning on) and dynamic (operational conditions: constant speed on rough and smooth roads and acceleration and deceleration). Psychoacoustic evaluation (loudness, roughness, and sharpness) and extraction of 12 Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC) parameters were used as objective parameters in this study. In general, there was a significant difference (p-value <0.05) in the objective parameters between ICEV and EV through the ANOVA method. On objective parameters, the average value of MFCC and psychoacoustic parameters ICEV is greater than EV in both test conditions due to powertrain noise (ICEV) and the mechanical components inside which dominate over a wider frequency range than powertrain (EV) which tends to be quiet. As for some operational conditions, the opposite trend was found due to the effect of the "absence" of sound from the combustion engine or due to the distinctive sound characteristics of EVs (such as engine check sound or radiation noise on electric motor components). Meanwhile, the subjective parameters (Calm, Powerful, Refined, Futuristic, Sporty, Pleasant, and Comfortable) that were evaluated were obtained through the results of the perception test conducted on the respondents. PCA analysis showed that the main perceptions of the Morino 4×4 ICEV and EV were “Comfort” (var = 54%) and “Dynamic” (var = 20%). It was found that ICEV is considered more dynamic but less comfortable, while EV is considered more comfortable but less dynamic. Overall, there is a correlation between the objective parameters and the main perception of sound produced by the Morino 4×4 ICEV and EV. The multilinear regression results show that the MFCC parameter (RComfort = 0.601 and RDynamic = 0.444) is considered better in predicting primary perception on Morino 4×4 ICEV and EV types compared to psychoacoustic (RComfort = 0.561 and RDynamic = 0.397). text |
