Description
Summary:PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PT DI) is a state-owned enterprise that focuses on the aviation industry. PT DI has 4 main business portfolios, such as aircraft, aerostructure, aircraft services, engineering services and weapon system. Just like other companies in the aviation industry, the COVID-19 pandemic had a huge impact on the company’s financial condition. Until now, PT DI’s financial condition is still not good. This is because the company is having difficulty achieving the sales target for their 4 main business portfolios. However, the condition of aviation industry is gradually improving. It creates a great opportunity for PT DI to diversify their business portfolio because there will be an increasing need for professional technicians in the field of aircraft maintenance and repair. One of the projects that will be implemented by PT DI regarding aircraft maintenance and repair is the construction of Aircraft Maintenance Training Organization (AMTO). However, PT DI is still unsure whether the project will be successful or not because the limited resources available in the company forces them to invest further in the projects. Before deciding to accept or reject the project, PT DI needs to conduct a feasibility study to determine whether the project will be successful or not. However, until now, PT DI only conducted a feasibility study without considering the risk factors from the project which makes the result from the feasibility study will not be that accurate. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the risk factors from each project in the feasibility study. One of the methods that can be used is a Monte Carlo Simulation. The result shows that there are differences in NPV between the conventional method and Monte Carlo Simulation. The amount of NPV from the conventional method is Rp2.054.079.172. Meanwhile, the amount of NPV from the Monte Carlo Simulation with 95% confidence level is -Rp13.178.393.584 which indicates the project has a greater probability to result a negative NPV. Therefore, the project is not financially feasible. The condition for this project to be feasible in a Monte Carlo simulation is that the Indonesian inflation is around 3.7% during 2023 to 2033 or the number of AMTO A1 registrants in 2024 can reach up to 90 people.
