Summary: | Abrasion in coastal areas occurs as a result of sea level rise caused by climate
change. Pondok Bali Beach as an area in Subang Regency is one of the areas
experiencing severe abrasion and sea level rise. Abrasion and sea level rise are
exacerbated by the destruction of mangrove forests as an important role in
coastal ecosystems. Coastal area disasters that occur have a direct impact on the
environment, infrastructure, and the local community's economy, so a strategy for
handling abrasion and sea level rise is needed to restore the mangrove ecosystem.
The purpose of this study is to analyze strategies for mangrove restoration against
abrasion and sea level rise in the Pondok Bali Beach Area, Subang Regency
which consists of: (1) analysis of coastal area disasters consisting of analysis of
shoreline change using DSAS, causes and impacts from abrasion and sea level
rise, (2) analysis of the condition of the mangrove ecosystem which consists of
analysis of changes in land area and density of mangroves using the NDVI
method and analysis of mangrove ecosystems, (3) identification of strategies for
handling abrasion and sea level rise in the mangrove area. Based on the results of
the analysis, the mangrove restoration strategy has been implemented in stages
and requires consistency in implementing this strategy as an effort to overcome
the decline in the coastline which has reached 2361.75 meters in Legonwetan
Village and 1704.92 meters in Mayangan Village from 1992 2022. In addition,
the mangrove ecosystem which has an important role in protecting the coastal
ecosystem as a protector of the coast, has experienced degradation in area
reaching 160.87 Ha in Mayangan Village and 63 Ha in Legonwetan Village. The
strategy that is being carried out by various stakeholders is in the form of a
structural strategy consisting of building a Breakwater as a wave breaker that can
also trap sediment to prevent abrasion and more severe sea level rise as well, also
replanting mangrove forests in areas where mangrove that are already lost |
