Description
Summary:The success of the rehabilitation program in coastal areas cannot be separated from the participation of the people who live around it. For this reason, community empowerment is one of the efforts needed in the development concept to improve the quality of human resources, nature, the economy, and the quality of the environment. Fishing communities that take advantage of the potential of the sea and coast as a source of economic income cannot be compared with communities in other sectors, such as the agricultural sector, the industrial sector, etc. Empowerment efforts are urgently needed to boost existing problems in coastal communities (fishermen) to improve their standard of living. The Blok Empang Fishermen Village, Muara Angke, is one of the slum settlements in Jakarta's North Sea coastal area, experiencing ecological threats such as development, pollution, waste, and the prolonged impact of global warming and population growth. However, this is different from ecological improvements in coastal areas, such as sustainable mangrove area conservation activities; this is also accompanied by the activities of the Blok Empang community, which directly or indirectly damage the environment. They know this will result in the loss of their livelihoods and homes, but a change still needs to be implemented, even though the available human and natural resources have great potential. For this reason, interior design planning is present in providing a platform and innovation through designing a community activities center as a means of supporting rehabilitation activities that follow the characteristics of the surrounding community (activity-based) to create the characteristics of a community that is educated, independent and able to overcome and prevent various threats to the coastal environment in the future on an ongoing basis.
