The design of the Special Women's Addiction Rehabilitation Center with a Local Wisdom
Approach in Ubud, Bali is a rehabilitation facility that instead of only functioning for treatment,
this facility has an open area with many general activities that do not interrupt the patient's
interaction with the community. That way, this facility does not only offer individual healing,
but also social healing by being a means of information and education about drug abuse and
addiction. Ubud, which is often referred to as the artistic, spiritual and cultural heart of Bali,
comes from the Balinese word, “ubad” which means medicine. Ubud offers beautiful peace
from nature and is suitable for calming down, coupled with the Balinese people who live based
on Hindu philosophy and still uphold the values of their cultural and noble traditions, they can
influence the rehabilitation program as well as the architecture and building plans.
From this background, this design aims to review the application of biophilic design to
addiction rehabilitation facilities specifically for women to help reduce the stress of
rehabilitation patients, as well as instilling elements of local wisdom in interior space
arrangements for an addiction rehabilitation center located in Ubud, Bali, by upholding the
philosophy Ubud which is believed to have mystical healing abilities. |
