Summary: | MICE (meetings, Incentive trips, conferences, and exhibitions) is one of the tourism
sectors that has various effective impacts on the economy and supports a tourism
strategy that prioritizes quality tourism and has high foreign exchange earning
potential in Indonesia. Bandung City is developing as one of the best MICE
destinations in Indonesia, has high development potential, and is growing rapidly.
To optimize the development of MICE tourism in Bandung City, infrastructure on
a national and international scale must be prepared. Simultaneously, Bandung's
problem is the limited availability of land. The development of MICE tourism in the
city of Bandung needs further attention, so the focus of this research is on the
development of MICE in Bandung City, specifically MICE regulations, MICE
characteristics, and their impact on changes in land cover in Bandung City. This
study used primary data from interviews and observations with the government and
management of star hotels and conference halls, as well as secondary data from
related agencies, that was processed through qualitative, quantitative, and spatial
analysis to identify changes in land cover. The results of the study show that MICE
tourism activities have been identified in local government programs, but there are
no regional regulations that specifically regulate MICE activities. In addition,
MICE tourism activities in Bandung City are included in the medium MICE scale,
with Bandung City MICE facilities that can only accommodate 200 to 8000 visitors.
There will be 221 MICE activities in 2022 focused on the implementation of SWK
Cibeunying. SWK Cibeunying changed functions by 12.6%, and 79 of the 79 MICE
facilities are on unchanged land. There has not been a direct impact of MICE
tourism activities on changes in land cover from 2016 to 2019. MICE tourism has
also not been specifically identified in the RTRW and RDTR Bandung City, and
48% of MICE tourism is carried out in zones of trade and services. |
