Summary: | UNCLOS is a basic international law for ocean line determination , Indonesia is
one of the country that ratified the UNCLOS 1982. As the consecuences ,
Indonesia has to fullfill its duty, meanwhile gaining its oceanic rights based on
those law. UNCLOS 1982 regulate territorial sea, which consists of 12 miles
ocean line measured from the baseline. This final project is examining in how far
the tightness of basepoints effect on the optimalized Territorial Sea boundaries
using different scales usage.
A country has an obliged duty to present its territorial sea, one of the way to
present it is in a nautical chart. UNCLOS 1982 gives freedom to each country
using scale in the process to make of this chart, as long as the scale is still
categorized as a large scale map, IHO suggests to using scale 1 : 50.000, 1 :
100.000 and 1 : 200.000.
Using larger scale will make the distance of each basepoints will become thighter,
which the basepoints is refers to the reference to determine the Teritorial Sea
boundaries. Otherwise, using larger scale will make area of the Teritorial Sea
will be wider. |
