Description
Summary:The negative effects of globalization have resulted in a crisis of love for the motherland which results in a lack of will to defend the country. Problems in border areas such as in Natuna often occur and can have serious impacts. Natuna fishermen are worried about the rise of foreign fishing boats (KIA) belonging to other countries which can reduce the welfare of fishermen and damage the marine ecosystem. The purpose of this study is to identify the values of state defense in the lives of fishing communities on the coast of Natuna Regency in order to fulfill their obligations as Indonesian citizens. The results of this study indicate that fishing communities in Natuna have an understanding of the values of National Defense and have implemented the values of National Defense in their lives. The benefit of applying the values of defending the state for national security is by using the capabilities of local Natuna fishermen as human intelligence to identify illegal fishing activities and violations that have occurred in Natuna waters. Another advantage is that it can minimize the occurrence of over fishing caused by the exploitation of marine resources. Thus the government plays a role in increasing awareness of National Defense either through socialization of National Defense; encourage component reserve program (Komcad); as well as other activities carried out through coaching to the community and fishermen of Natuna.
