INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/74538 The conflict in the Natuna region stems from China's unilateral claim of the Nine Dash Line, which encompasses the South China Sea (SCS). The Nine Dash Line is a set of nine imaginary points that indicate China's claim to almost all of the SCS. In order to anticipate ongoing conflicts, the government has implemented the development of borders in the Natuna region. The implementation of the concept of development border in North Natuna has been brought to attention by the Goverment of the Republic of Indonesia by issuing Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 41 of 2022 on the Spatial Planning of Interregional Sea Natuna- Natuna North. One of the articles in the Perpres regulates the strategy of national defense and security in the waters around Natuna. The aim of this research is to understand the implementation of the concept of development of border in the Natuna-Natuna North border region in accordance with the Implementation of Perpres number 41 of 2022 and discussions related to the development of special areas in the Natuna-Natuna North area and the development of the Natuna defense concept. This research is a descriptive-analytical study related to efforts to develop the Natuna North area to develop the area around Natuna in order to prevent potential conflicts in the Natuna North area. Therefore, this research needs to analyze various economic, geopolitical, and geostrategic perspectives related to the Natuna North area. After studying the concept of development of border in the Natuna region, it was found that Natuna is currently only implementing development of border by carrying out military occupation by making Natuna a static base for the TNI's front-line bases on the country's border with the formation of the Integrated TNI Unit (STT) and Composite TNI Battalion, while the concept of development of border in Natuna in the economic field is still limited to the main branch of the maritime economy which makes the Natuna region has not developed in the field of maritime economy. text |
