Description
Summary:Influenza is a disease caused by an RNA virus that can infect birds and mammals. Influenza usually occurs during the seasonal transition from dry season to rainy season. The influenza virus spreads through the air from droplets of an infected person sneezes, coughs, or talks. The spread of influenza has caused many victims and there has not been found medicine to cure this disease. The medicine that are currently used are only to reduce the symptoms, so the prevention efforts that can be done are through influenza vaccination. Influenza outbreaks not only have a negative impact on the public health sector, but also create economic burdens within communities. Therefore, preventive measures, such as having insurance for influenza, are necessary to reduce the economic impact. Influenza disease modeling is conducted to obtain parameters, such as the infection rate and removal rate. These parameters are estimated using the least-square method, which involves finding the parameter values that result in predictions closest to the observed data. The parameters that have been obtained will be used in actuarial pricing to determine the appropriate insurance premiums for the influenza protection. The SIR model equation will be transformed into an actuarial formula. In formulating the premium calculation, the basis is the information on the number of infected individuals, because it is challenging to determine the information on susceptible individuals. By formulating the premium calculation based on the information on the number of infected individuals, the appropriate insurance premium can be determined.
