This has caused the younger generation today to be less familiar with local superheroes, which are one of the pop culture heritages among the people. So it takes an introduction and habituation to make children know and be proud of the wealth of domestic superhero characters. Discussion of super heroes besides being able to instill moral values in children, also helps the process of growth and development of children aged 9-12 (concrete operational); literacy skills, interests and hobbies, problem solving. Therefore, the authors designed media literacy that goes beyond school-based literacy, namely through the media of children's newspapers. In addition to being informative, children's newspapers have an entertainment function, by presenting various content that can be visualized through interactive games (TTS, Comics, Quiz), as well as infographic illustrations. Newspapers also influence the audience to behave according to the messages conveyed in the content and articles (persuasive function). It can be said, children's newspapers are suitable media to arouse children's interest in local superheroes. A series of data collection methods used were literature studies, analysis of similar works, interviews, questionnaires, and prototype trials. Data were analyzed through descriptive analysis method. The results obtained are that visual processing and content about superheroes in newspapers are effective for children to absorb information in a fun way. Children have more attachment to superhero characters through interactive content, and the use of simple icons in illustrations in this media. The conclusion of this design is that apart from books, films and animation media literacy, newspapers are a fun literacy medium for conveying information so that children have a deeper interest in Indonesian superheroes, as well as supporting children to develop aspects of themselves. text
