Summary: | Electrochemistry as an important part of chemistry-based research has been used significantly in various knowledge branches and its implementation is closely attached to the use of laboratory instrumentation as a black box which retrieves and visualizes the experiment data. One of the drawbacks of only using the instrument is the lack of understanding of the basic working principle of the instrument. The existence of self-made-culture can be a solutive choice in cooperating with this issue. At Institut Teknologi Bandung a portable potentiostat has been developed as an electrochemical analysis tool using this self-made principle and has paved a way for future development that will be actualized in this thesis. This thesis’ potentiostat is built based on ESP32 microcontroller with the ability to analyze cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry method and will be implemented on a printed circuit board. Product development divided into two main parts, consisted of potentiostat unit and signal. User will operate the product by entering input parameter on the IDE serial monitor and receive real-time measured current and voltage. The performance of this device will be tested on potassium ferricyanide as the analyte. Device performance will be compared to commercial device, Sensit smart. Potentiostat has a mass of 76.57 gram with the dimension of 10.8 x 4.6 x 3.5 cm, has a sweep voltage range of -1.73 V to 1.55 V with 0.8 mV resolution and a measuring current range of -954.04 µA to 588.01 µA with 23.5 nA resolution. The average accuracy and error relative to Sensit Smart are obtained respectively 93.08% and 6.92% for cyclic voltammetry while for differential pulse voltammetry, relative accuracy of the measured peak current with the corresponding voltage, obtained respectively 90.92% and 88.86%, with relative error of 9.08% and 11.14%. |
