TRANSFORMATION OF IDLE GOVERNMENT OFFICE BUILDINGS INTO A VERTICAL HOUSING USING AN ADAPTIVE REUSE APPROACH
The occupancy rate of office buildings in Indonesia, especially in Jakarta, is getting lower. Change in people's behavior to work from home after the pandemic potentially cause a decrease in demand of office building occupancy in Jakarta. The plan to relocate the nation’s capital city of Indone...

Change in people's behavior to work from home after the pandemic potentially cause a decrease in demand of office building occupancy in Jakarta. The plan to relocate the nation’s capital city of Indonesia from Jakarta to East Kalimantan will cause the central government offices to also be reallocated following the relocation of the new nation’s capital city and cause the old government office buildings to become idle. The transformation of a former government office building into a residensial function has the potential to be carried out considering the need for housing, especially in urban areas, continues to increase every year. Several methods have been proposed to assess the potential reuse of a building for another function. This study begins with a literature review, precedent review, data analysis, elaboration, design results, and evaluation of design results. Data analysis begins with determining the occupant targets. and determining the location of the design object. Determining the location of the design is carried out by transformation meter assessment. Data analysis was carried out on a macro basis in the scope of the site, and micro in relation to existing buildings. The results of the design criteria obtained are implemented in the design concept. The design concept accommodates various types of needs from user activity analysis and site analysis. Through this methodology, this thesis aims academically to produce design adjustments to office building design objects through an adaptive reuse approach. text |
