Rumah lontiok is one of the cultural heritages of the Ocu people which is the hallmark of the area. Along with the times, the architecture of the rumah lontiok has changed. This study aims to provide an overview of how the times have affected the life of the Ocu people which then has implications for the architectural transformation of the rumah lontiok. This study uses a qualitative paradigm with a case study approach. Case selection was carried out purposively to determine research objects that could be extracted and able to help answer research questions. Primary data was obtained through interviews with the Ocu community, observation of the Ocu community settlement environment, and documentation of the rumah lontiok. Secondary data was obtained from documents in the form of maps, government documents, and writings containing the results of previous research. The data collected analyzed using descriptive analysis methods. This research focuses on three cases of rumah lontioks, consisting of one house in Koto Bangkinang and two houses in Koto Salo. The results showed that the three cases had different transformation characteristics. The characteristics of the transformation of rumah lontiok are shown by the changes that occur in the idea system, activity system, and artifacts.The transformation of rumah lontiok is caused by internal factors and external factors. Internal factors consist of modernization in domestic life, low economic level, lack of traditional carpentry skills, loss of family farming traditions, low level of appreciation of ancestral heritage, and the desire to try new things. As for external factors, including the development of modern science and technology, the high price of wood, and the degradation of the role of the ninik mamak. text
