According to some research, the pandemic has made workers more anxious, depressed, stressed out, and sleep deprived. These mental health issues may have a substantial impact on productivity at work and in general. The limited number of studies devoted to mental health issues and their impact on performance in general is the main impetus for conducting this research. The goal of this study is to ascertain the major influence of mental health issues on workplace performance during the COVID-19 pandemic and its mitigation strategy. This research was conducted using quantitative and secondary data from the results of a survey conducted in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey was conducted globally by distributing questionnaires regarding mental health and work performance using random sampling specifically for adult workers of productive age in 28 major countries in the world. The survey results obtained as many as 12,823 respondents who were adults in productive age with 53% of the respondents being male and 47% being female. Survey data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel, SPSS 25, and processed using validity, reliability tests and simple linear regression. The results of the study found that there was a significant relationship between mental health which implicates for work performance during COVID- 19 pandemic. The relationship between the two is a positive therefore any improvement in the mental health condition of workers will align with the increase of workers performance. Thus, a mitigation plan is needed related to this problem to support and improve employee performance in the workplace. By mitigating the impact of mental health implications on employee performance during a pandemic and other possible crises in the future, organizations can increase their competitiveness and maintain their sustainability going forward. text |
