INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/74800 Recently, the development of public transportation facilities and infrastructure has been encouraged to reduce the number of private motor vehicle users. Rail-based public transportation is one of the most reliable modes, but its development has not been optimal, especially in supporting facilities for pedestrians. Theoretically, pedestrian facilities and infrastructure in rail-based public transportation should consider several elements, including accessibility, comfort, safety, and user welfare. In Depok Lama Station, numerous problems interfere the pedestrian facilities, such as street food vendors, online motorbike taxi, parking lot, etc. This research aims to formulate the principles of structuring a pedestrian-friendly station area by considering the level of walkability in the Depok Lama Station Area. The researcher used quantitative methods to determine the level of walkability in the study area based on the criteria, components, and indicators of walkability. Qualitative methods are also used to determine the general characteristics and problems that exist in the study area. The results show that there is only one road section out of four observed roads that fall into the "walkable" category, while the other three road sections fall into the "not walkable" and "very not walkable" categories. The urban design principle to enhance the Depok Lama Station is developed based on seven criteria, particularly easiness, traffic safety, road design, access to transportation, security, convenience, and personal perception. text
