PRE-DESIGN OF POLYCULTURE SYSTEM FOR CULTIVATING CHERRY TOMATOES ( LYCOPERSICUM CERASIFORME MILL. ), CHICKPEAS ( PHASEOLUS VULGARIS L. ), MUSTARD GREENS (BRASSICA CHINENSIS VAR. PARACHINENSIS ), AND LETTUCE ( LACTUCA SATIVA L.) ON RAISED BEDS INTEGRATED WITH BLACK SOLDIER FLY (HERMETIA ILLUCENS ) FARMING

Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L) is a vegetable commodity that is well known in the community and has high economic prospects and is highly nutritious. Raised bed is a practical urban farming method and good water use efficiency. Urban farming is one of the solutions to problems related to high population...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/74803 Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L) is a vegetable commodity that is well known in the community and has high economic prospects and is highly nutritious. Raised bed is a practical urban farming method and good water use efficiency. Urban farming is one of the solutions to problems related to high population growth but low available agricultural land. This study aims to determine the best planting media composition for the growth and production of Lettuce grown in the raised bed system. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the best composition of the planting media was in treatment 3, namely by comparing the composition of the planting media with soil: husk charcoal: cashew nut: organic matter, namely 2: 3: 1: 2. This was proven by treatment 3, which obtained the largest average growth parameter including the increase in the number of leaves, leaf width, and leaf length respectively of 6.121, 8.632 cm, and 17.267 cm. Likewise, the average values of production parameters include wet weight, dry weight, root length, leaf area, and production estimates respectively 48.094 grams, 2.46 grams, 9.19 cm, 467.453 cm2, and 739.800 grams. text
