Description
Summary:The regional autonomy system in the Indonesian government grants authority to village governments to regulate and manage the interests of the community. Furthermore, in the concept of LED (Local Economic Development), village governments play a role as one of the driving forces behind the development of the local area’s potential, including natural, cultural, social, and customary potentials. From these local potentials, villages can be developed into tourist destinations. One village that has the potential to be developed as a tourist destination is Krikilan Village, which is the location of the Sangiran Museum. It is a cultural heritage site and has been designated by UNESCO as a World Culture Heritage. Although the Sangiran Museum attracts visitors from various regions, the local community around the Sangiran Museum does not feel the impact of the museum’s presence. On the other hand, the Krikilan Village Government also wants to optimize the potential and benefits of the Sangiran Museum for the surrounding community. Therefore, this research aims to determine the role of the Krikilan Village Government in developing the local economy in Krikilan Village in the field of tourism by identifying the village government’s roles as entrepreneurs, coordinators, facilitators, and stimulators in developing Krikilan Village. The data for this research were obtained through interviews and literature reviews, which were then processed through qualitative descriptive analysis using content analysis techniques. This study found that the Krikilan Village Government has fulfilled its roles as an entrepreneur, coordinator, facilitator, and stimulator in developing the local economy of the area and Krikilan Tourism Village itself. However, there are still roles that have not been fulfilled by the Krikilan Village Government, namely the role of the village government as a stimulator in providing financial assistance and attracting investments.
